“In 1966 my father established the Sawmill here at Monegeetta, a small country town approximately 60 Km north of Melbourne,” says owner Rod Frost.
“In fact, Monegeetta is in line with the descent approach of Tullamarine Airport, and from the air, you can see many of the racing and trotting Studs identified by their training tracks, which over the years have made this area famous.
“About fifteen years ago, my brothers and I took over the running of the Mill from my father. We expanded the saw milling business by adding an extensive range of building supplies. Later, we formed the Company as we know it now.”
“Monegeetta is a big growth area and has rapidly become a commuter area to Melbourne. Our business has expanded and kept in pace with development in the area. We currently employ twelve permanent staff as well as casuals from the surrounding district.
“We aim to supply the local trade people, mainly builders and fencers with timber and builder’s hardware. However, the ‘handyman DIY’ market is becoming very popular and because we deal directly with the public, their needs are catered for as well. We now have an extensive range of stock and try to keep our shelves stocked up so there is no waiting or turnaround time.”
